Where we are

Nairobi, Kenya is the gateway city for the 129 million evangelicals in English-speaking Africa, which represents the largest potential mission force in the world. These countries contain or border unreached people groups and are poised to be a missions sending base to predominately Muslim North Africa.
map-ethiopia Home to 18 million unreached peoples as well as 16 million believers, Ethiopia is ripe for the harvest. We partner with Ethiopian mission mobilizers that are sending missionaries to the unreached throughout Africa.
map-russiaThe Balkans and former Soviet Union countries are home to 140+ unreached peoples, but also have densely populated pockets of Christians. Our mobilizers in this region are former church planters who are now serving church networks across a vast area to raise up laborers.
map-peruLima, Peru is a gateway city for mobilizing approximately 100 Million evangelical Christians in Latin America. It is home to numerous agencies and has easy access to the region. The mobilization potential is ripe, as only a few thousand missionaries have been sent, yet there growing vision of sending Latinos the unreached for the name of Christ.
map_east asia-01In the face of increasing restrictions and persecution in some areas, the Christian population is rapidly expanding throughout East Asia. This region contains some of the largest Christian countries in the world, yet mission vision is still lacking. Nevertheless, our teams have begun to gain the trust and favor of local church communities, and show them how to engage with the unreached living right around them.
map-middle-eastWhile smaller in number, the Arabic church is strategically located to impact the hardest to reach Muslim countries in the world. Pray with us for the Arabic believers to overcome fear and animosity toward their neighbors who persecute them.
map-usaThe USA has the highest number of Christians (though nearly tied with China) and is sending the most missionaries, but still has so much unrealized potential. While missions sending must continue, the CMM is raising up mobilizers to go to Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East to help spark missions movements among the global church.
Map_GermanyThe number of refugees flooding into Europe—particularly Germany—presents a unique and unprecedented opportunity to reach Muslims with the gospel. Many of these refugees come from countries such as Syria, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, or Afghanistan where they have never before had access to the gospel. Our team partners with local churches and organizations to mobilize European believers to take advantage of this opportunity and reach Muslims with the gospel message.

Where we’re going…to the unsent

In the last 40 years the Church has been awakened to the need of unreached peoples — the 40% of the world with no access to the gospel. But the Center for Mission Mobilization is focused on waking up the unsent peoples — the 75% of the global Church engaged in little or no mission sending. The CMM is sending teams of frontier mobilizers to transform these countries from traditional mission fields into radical new mission forces. This table of the 10 largest evangelical countries shows an enormous “mobilization gap” where there are millions of evangelicals, but with very few missionaries sent out.

The CMM is collaborating with Christian researchers to create the Unsent Peoples Index (or Mobilization Index). The purpose of our research is to understand which countries have the most potential to become great senders of missionaries to the unreached. We evaluate a country’s sending potential based on the number of evangelicals, their proximity to unreached people groups, and their economic ability to send missionaries beyond their borders.

Help us unleash the powerful potential of the unsent. With 80% of the global church in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the mission sending potential of these populations is immense.

Ten countries with the largest evangelical populations

Number of evangelicals* Number of missionaries sent**
USA 90,000,000 45,000

Brazil 50,000,000 3,500
Nigeria 50,000,000 1,400
India 25,000,000 1,000
Kenya 20,000,000 200
Ethiopia 16,000,000 35
Indonesia 14,000,000 180
DR Congo 12,000,000 70
Uganda 12,000,000 90

Statistics from Operation World 2010 ed

*Evangelicals as defined by Operation World 2010 ed.

**# of cross-cultural missionaries sent outside of one’s native country. Several of these nations are sending large numbers of missionaries within their own country. While this is good, we also must realize that much mobilization needs to be done in focusing those efforts on the unreached peoples within their countries. Research by Todd Johnson, author of Atlas of Global Christianity, has shown that 7.5% of the world’s missionaries are sent to the least-evangelized peoples, and national missionaries sending within their home country have the same low percentage of 7.5% that are sent to the least-evangelized peoples.
