Ryan and Jason are the CMM’s Catalytic leaders in Southeast Asia, which is home to not only millions of believers, but also many of the world’s unengaged people groups. Our Catalytic strategy is to find where God is already awakening the church to missions and pour fuel on that fire. Whether it’s an emerging missions mobilizer or a nationally led mission agency, we come to them with open hands to share resources, connect them to other national mobilizers in the region, encourage them, and coach them through mobilization tools created by us or others. By God’s favor, we’ve seen amazing fruit from our partnership with national leaders. Leaders whom we’ve entered into a formal partnership with, we call Global Affiliates.
Ananda is the CMM Global Affiliate in Indonesia. Although this role is new, we have partnered with Ananda since 2011. Ananda is regularly speaking before pastors, leaders of major denominations, mission networks and agencies. Through his strategic influence with Indonesian leaders and his promotion of CMM resources and vision, he has been able to see thousands of everyday Christians get connected to the Great Commission and numerous missionaries sent out.
Our relationship with Ananda deepened in 2013 with his assistance in hosting and planning the Global Mobilization Consultation (GMC) in Indonesia. Once Indonesia was chosen as the GMC 2013 location, it was Ananda who selected the city and host church. As a result, the lead pastor of the 3,000 member church was influenced significantly, completing the Perspectives course in its entirety! The church has started its own sending agency, sending teams to the unreached and influencing other church leaders and whole denominations throughout Indonesia.
Through this local church mobilization focus, Indonesians are now starting new agencies and prayer initiatives. Ananda is thrilled to see this happen and says that giving away our resources to local churches is building trust and solid relationships across the country. Whole denominations are beginning to embrace a mobilization strategy. Indonesians have begun to raise their own funds, create their own resources and train their own people for mission work. This is a holistic approach to missions, and takes into consideration awareness all the way to involvement. Local churches have adopted the concept of unreached people groups, and are now sending workers to serve among them. Pastors have said that they have learned more about God’s heart for the world, and are increasing their commitment in both prayer and giving.
With the assistance of CMM resources, Ananda has educated key mobilizers who in turn go on to train other Indonesian mobilizers. Before the GMC 2015 in Kenya, Ananda recruited 4 leaders from different parts of Indonesia to attend. The GMC helped these key leaders to know their important role in mobilizing. They were so impacted by the vision of global mobilization that they returned to Indonesia and had both Xplore and Go Mobilize translated into Bahasa and printed 1500 copies within 6 weeks. Through Ananda’s leadership and mentoring, they also hosted a GMC style Indonesian mobilization conference which was able to spread missions and mobilization training to over 150 leaders from every region of Indonesia. Collaborating with key mobilizers and serving local churches is the essence of the Southeast Asia Catalytic Strategy.
This has all happened in the last four years, largely because of the training and encouragement from the CMM and the newly formed Global Mobilization Network. Ananda believes that, “the CMM/GMN are the two bodies which connects us to the resources that can advance the process to reaching Indonesia.”
In the future, our connections in Indonesia are looking forward to having a greater identity within the global mobilization network. Ananda dreams of one day having a whole team of full time mobilizers who give the best of their abilities towards seeing God’s people connected to God’s global purpose. Working with the Catalytic Teams is helping Ananda to have more opportunities to build this team. Furthermore, CMM resources and vision give him a platform from which to speak.
